Mel is one of The Potential Ability Group’s business partners, as well as being a Senior Clinical Occupational Therapist for the Potential Ability department covering the Fleurieu peninsula and mid coast regions four days a week.
Mel has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy and really enjoys working with clients with the aim of improving their ability to manage their daily life activities in their own homes. Mel finds it incredibly satisfying to be able to help people achieve their own personal goals and a privilege to be welcomed into their lives. Mel has a passionate interest in aged care and specialised experience in home modifications, having always preferred working with people in the community / their own homes as opposed to a hospital / clinical setting. Mel has been working for more than 20 years as an OT and within her current region for 16 years.
Part of Mel’s passion stems from the job satisfaction she has from being able to help others achieve what they identify as important to them and the opportunity to meet so many people with incredible life stories and lessons to share.
Mel’s spare time is taken up with family (particularly her two boys and their various interests), music (singing and playing the piano) and attempting to blow her mind with information about our solar system and the known universe. Mel believes there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all the world’s beaches, yet a single grain of sand has more atoms than there are stars in the Universe… pretty profound and thought provoking!
